Good Vision in a Downpour – Put on Your Sunglasses!

Posted by on Apr 20, 2012 in Blog | 0 comments

By Emily Joseph I was recently caught in a downpour on a four lane interstate when I remembered that I had heard that polarized sunglasses will eliminate the whiteout you can experience during a rain storm. I’m not sure why the use of sun glasses for heavy rains is so effective but it definitely worked!! It was even useful driving in a heavy rain at night. I know we all have experienced turning your wipers to high during a heavy downpour but visibility is still bad.  If you face this situation, try putting on your polarized sunglasses....

Underinsured Motorist Coverage and Uninsured Motorist Coverage

Posted by on Apr 11, 2012 in Blog | 0 comments

By J. Lee Nation, Attorney If you haven’t looked at your car insurance options lately, maybe you should. Call your car insurance provider and make sure that you have uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) coverage on your car insurance policy. The relatively cheap premiums for uninsured motorist coverage pale in comparison to the possible benefits. This coverage increases the likelihood that your medical bills and damages would be covered if you got into a car accident caused by a person with little or no insurance. In this situation, your...

Motorcycle Safety

Posted by on Mar 27, 2012 in Blog | 0 comments

As an accident attorney in Huntsville, I frequently hear stories from car, truck and motorcycle accident victims. Many of those who have been injured in vehicle accidents have their lives changed forever. With warmer weather upon us, I want to take a few minutes to discuss motorcycle accidents and safety – both from the perspective of the motorcycle rider AND from that of someone driving a car or truck. Because motorcycle riders are not as well protected as those in cars or trucks, motorcycle accidents can result in more severe injuries than...

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov), every year over 800,000 people visit the doctor or emergency room for treatment of dog bites. Approximately half of those injured by dog bites are children. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) suggests that parents teach their children what to do if an unfamiliar dog approaches and offers suggestions for how to prevent dog bites. If you or your child is bitten by a dog and the owner is there, you should ask him or her for proof that the dog has been...

Thoughts About Tornadoes & Life

Posted by on Jan 25, 2012 in Blog | 0 comments

As I watch the news and see the devastation caused by the severe storms and tornadoes in Alabama and her neighboring states, it makes me think about the best laid plans. As individuals, we have goals, dreams and expectations. But in reality, there are many things outside our control that can impact our plans. Many Alabamans lost their homes and businesses in these storms. And several families lost loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who is dealing with the aftermath. As a personal injury attorney, I meet daily with clients...

But I wanted to take some time to tell our families, friends, neighbors and clients how important they all are to us. Thank you to our families for supporting our mission to protect the injured and disabled. Thank you to our friends for being there when we need you. Thank you to our neighbors for making this a true community. Thank you to our clients for believing in us...

Are You a Record Keeper?

Posted by on Sep 30, 2011 in Blog | 0 comments

Most people are notoriously bad at recordkeeping. But if you are in an accident, having good records is critical. From the initial accident report through settlement of your claim, you must keep everything! In fact, even after your claim is settled, I recommend you keep the accident file for an additional five years. What things should you keep? Here’s a partial list: Accident report Photos or videos of the accident A copy of the SR-13 form you filed with the State of Alabama All medical paperwork All communication from the insurance...
