Protecting the Injured + Disabled

SSD | What if I’m Denied?

If your Social Security Disability claim is denied, you must appeal the decision within 60 days. If you are currently receiving SSD benefits and the Social Security Administration terminates them, you must appeal within 10 days. The most common reasons claims are denied are incomplete information and lack of proof of disability.
The appeals process can be long and complicated. It begins when you submit a signed request for appeal to the SSA. Your case may go through several levels of review, including Reconsideration, a Hearing, Appeals Council Review and a Federal Court hearing (this last one requires that you have an attorney to represent you). You do have the right to hire an attorney to help you through the entire appeals process. The attorney cannot charge you without first getting written approval from the Social Security Administration.
The experienced Alabama disability attorneys at Charles Pitman Injury Lawyers can help you through the Social Security Disability appeals process if your initial claim is rejected. Contact us today to learn more by calling 256-533-5000, e-mailing info@cpinjurylawyers.com or completing this form.
